Grabone pool passes honoured until 30th Sept deadline

Anyone who has a Grabone voucher for ski pass and pool pass and did not redeem it during the season has been given an extension until 30th September 2012 to redeem their pool pass. This is a generous gesture from the club to extend beyond the voucher expiry date of 4th Sept.
If you are one of these voucher holders that did not redeem your pool pass then simply email us at info@skihanmer.co.nz with your name and voucher number from each voucher. Advise us of your snail mail address and we will send out your pool pass via snail mail.
This extension of time is not obligatory under the terms and conditions of the voucher however the club wishes to give back to those who have helped to keep us running over the season.

Poma ready to go

What a great storm last week was for skiers, not so good if your a lamb! We received over half a metre of new snow which has allowed us to reopen. Plenty of powder up there so get up there and enjoy it.  Chris, Ben and the lads up the hill have been working flat out to get the Poma ready to go and I am told that she is all guns blazing once we have enough snow on the tow line to run it. Top work chaps. Fingers crossed for a bit more snow.

Field closed temporarily

At the moment, almost all of the club fields in the south island are struggling after the horrible rain that we got last weekend, and unfortunately, that includes us. Because of the damage the rain caused to the field we have closed down the mountain temporarily, to preserve the snow that we have left so that an infusion of new snow can bring us back for the season. We don't need much to get back in action, but with what we have at the moment, sadly, we can't run the lifts. Don't give up though, and do some snow dances, because hopefully there will be some snow coming our way as early as next week, and we will hope to be open asap!

Happy faces were seen all over the mountain as the weather really turned on a great weekend. Here's hoping there will be many more days like these to savour over the season - thanks to everyone who has helped out in these important projects over the summer and autumn, your help will insure many enjoy these great additions over the seasons to come.

Brand new tow for Hanmer Springs Ski Area

We are proud to advise that we are in the process of installing a brand new beginners fixed rope tow to Hanmer Springs Ski Area that will be operational for the new season 2012. This is a big improvement in facilities for us as it allows the "first timers" to have a dedicated area of their own away from the shirt front tow and poma areas. The tow is being shipped currently from Vancouver and is "brand new" (first time in many years we have purchased something brand new!). We will give updates once installed, speaking of which, we will have a few working bees over the summer months - if you can help out - then please get in contact with one of the committee members for details - we offer a free day pass for each volunteer who helps for a day.
For a look at the new tow refer to attached link www.haruschlifts.com
